Start Donor Screen Process
- If you’ve ever considered living kidney donation but aren’t sure you’d qualify because of your health, please still start the screening process. The transplant team will determine your eligibility — you don’t have to decide that on your own. Every screening brings us one step closer to helping Brian get the kidney he urgently needs.

Make A Difference
Your generosity can help cover the costs of Brian’s life-saving transplant and related medical expenses. Every dollar you contribute brings Brian one step closer to a healthier life.

FAQs
Q: Does a potential donor have to pay for testing or medical evaluations?
A: No. All medical testing and evaluations related to being a donor are covered by the recipient’s transplant center, not the donor’s insurance.
Q: Will the surgery and aftercare cost the donor anything?
A: No. The donor’s surgery and post-operative care are fully covered by the recipient’s transplant program.
Q: Can someone with an autoimmune disease (like rheumatoid arthritis) donate?
A: Not automatically ruled out. Eligibility depends on your overall health and lab results. Only the transplant center can make a final determination after reviewing your medical evaluation.
Q: What happens if a donor later develops kidney failure themselves?
A: Approved living donors receive priority status on the kidney transplant waitlist, meaning they move ahead of others if they ever need a transplant in the future.
Q: Do donors need to be the same blood type as Brian?
A: No. Thanks to the Voucher Program, donors of any blood type can donate on Brian’s behalf.
Q: What is the Voucher Program?
A: A donor gives a kidney to someone else in need, and in return Brian receives a “voucher” that matches him with a compatible living donor through the national kidney exchange
